Now it got serious. In April 2014 the first cement blocks were laid. There were still foundations to be poured, approx. 5,000 blocks stacked and the first cuttings planted.
The first volunteers took part in these early stages and more and more passerbys saw unusual walls grow higher and higher along the highway.
Levels, caulk lines and any other kind of measuring instruments were not allowed at the construction site. Creativity was asked right from the start. Didn’t matter whether you had construction experience or just graduated from high school and planning a tour through Canada, every helping hand was welcomed.
It was dusty, dirty and we laughed a lot.
